Advanced reporting features in Salesforce help users create powerful and tailored reports that address complex business scenarios and provide valuable insights for decision-making.
- Stacked Summaries
Stacked summaries redefine the way data is grouped in reports, introducing a subtle yet impactful change. This feature allows users to swiftly condense extensive data, facilitating quicker analysis and comparison. In essence, stacked summaries empower users to craft personalized report views within Salesforce.
The enhanced Lightning Report Builder seamlessly incorporates the stacked summaries feature by default. However, users have the flexibility to activate this view by adding fields to both rows and columns. Alternatively, the toggle can be utilized at the bottom of the Report Builder to switch this feature on or off.
For instance, consider a loan report (the Opportunity standard object is renamed as Loan). With stacked summaries enabled, the report can present a concise and summarized table showcasing the number of loans in each stage and each loan owner’s sub-total of loans. This toggle empowers users to explore record counts by various parameters such as state, loan owner, or any sub-total counts based on the report’s organization.

- Joined Reports
- Joined Reports in Salesforce provide a powerful way to combine data from multiple report types into a single, comprehensive report.
- They allow users to analyse and compare information from different objects or record types side by side. Joined Reports enable users to merge data from multiple report types, each representing a distinct set of records or objects.
- Joined Reports are organized into blocks, where each block represents a separate report type. Each block can have its own set of fields, columns, and filters.
- Users can define relationships between blocks to specify how data in one block is related to data in another.
- Joined Reports allow for the inclusion of common fields and filters that apply across all blocks. This ensures consistency and coherence in the overall report.
- Joined Reports are valuable when users need to compare and contrast data from various objects or when they want to create a comprehensive report that spans across multiple record types.
To create a joined report, follow the steps below,
