We already covered an overview of Schedule Triggered flow. A schedule-triggered flow commences at the designated time and frequency, initiating processing for a batch of records. This type of flow begins execution based on the specified schedule and recurrence pattern. In this article, we presents a mortgage specific use case to create a Schedule triggered flow to notify a loan owner before loan close date.
Let us learn the flow in action step wise.
- Fetching Records with close date two days after the current date.
- Navigate to Object Manager-Flows-New Flow -Select Schedule-Triggered Flow-Create
- In the ‘Start’ element set a schedule and set the frequency as ‘Daily’ since the flow is supposed to run on a daily basis to check the loans approaching close date.
- We need to use a ‘Formula’ which adds the current date with the required number of days, prior to which a notification should be received by the loan owner regarding the loan closing. To accomplish this, we have to create a new resource.
- Below ‘Manager’ tab, click on ‘New Resource’.
- Create a ‘Formula’ resource of ‘Date’ datatype by fetching the current date on which the flow runs.
- The resource is named ‘LoanCloseDate ‘. It is two days after the current date. So when the runs, it will fetch all loan records in which the close date is two days after the current date.
- Now select ‘Get Records’
- Filter the loan records with Closing date equal to the LoanCloseDate’.
- Since the notification is to be sent to the respective loan owner, we need the OwnerId field to be stored in a variable. A variable serves as a container which holds different values. Here the owner is different for different loans.

- Start a loop path for iterating over items in a collection variable. The collection variable stores the fetched loan records. For each iteration, the flow temporarily stores the item in the loop variable.
4. Assignment of Owner Id of the current loan item to the UserRecordId
- On every iteration, we need to first remove the OwnerId value of the previous iteration.
- Then we will assign the new OwnerId value for the next item to be iterated.
5. Send Custom Notification
- For the custom notification to be sent, set the input values.
- Click Done.
- Your flow will look like this one below.
Now Save the flow and activate it.
The notification for the loan owner will like this.
