In Salesforce, we can utilize custom objects to effectively track and store data specific to your organization’s needs. If manual creation of a custom object and its fields isn’t your preference, you have the option to use a spreadsheet to add the object, define its fields, and input all record data seamlessly. You have two options for creating a custom object from a spreadsheet: either through Setup or from the Navigation Items tab within a Lightning app’s settings. In this article, let us learn how to create a custom object from a spreadsheet.
In Setup, go to Object Manager, then click Create | Custom Object from Spreadsheet
Alternatively, navigate to the Navigation Items tab inside a Lightning app.
In Setup, enter App in the Quick Find box, then select App Manager.
Next to the app you want to add the custom object to, click List item dropdown menu icon, and select Edit.
Click Navigation Items. From the Available Items list, click Create | Custom Object from Spreadsheet.
Follow the wizard steps to import your custom object data from an .xlsx file, a .csv file, or a Google sheet.
Choose the desired production or sandbox org to where you want to create the custom object.
Click ‘Allow’ to give Lightning Object Creator access to the org.

- In this context, we will choose spreadsheet. So, click Upload and then upload the spreadsheet data.
- Salesforce detects object field labels from the spreadsheet row that you specify. All fields must be mapped to create the custom object. Complete the mapping of the unmapped fields if any and select appropriate field type if any missing.
